I did book an Executive room. I don’t think I got this. 2 ziplock mattresses for the double bed and a sofa bed. Not a nice view overlooking the street couldn’t keep the curtains open. I was near the lift could hear it throughout the night. Reception and other staff were lovely. I should have checked if that was an Executive Room that I had payed for.
Lovely central hotel , lovely decorated and staff very accommodating
Good location close to Metro & car park
Great location, rooms were lovely & the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Would definitely recommend.
We had a very spacious room overlooking the street. As mentioned in other reviews the noise levels could be quite high and well into the night. But then it was during the world cup. The bed was very comfortable. There isn't much storage space and I would suggest replacing the bedside tables with some that have drawers. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of food. We didn't miss not having a cooked option. Lots of comfortable seating in the public areas. And it was nice and cook there a bonus during the heatwave.
Tidy room, and no worries about bedbugs as the sheets seemed to be very well cleaned. The cool air was very refreshing in these hot climate circumstances. The staff was very friendly.
Lovely hotel. Very comfy bed and really quiet in room.
We have stayed here many times. Very clean. Close to all amenities Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
The staff are great
Excellent location. Friendly, courteous staff. Great base for a wonderful weekend in Newcastle.
Great location. 2 mins from bars and restaurants. Beautiful interior with a very comfortable courtyard. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff . Housekeeping second to none during our 3 night stay. Fantastic value for money too. Surrounded by bars etc but once window was closed couldn’t hear a thing. Wonderful stay and will come back and recommend.
Bed comfy but chair soiled and uncomfortable. Needed to do floor physio but carpet needs replacing.
Good breakfast comfortable room bed could be longer
Have stayed on many occasions. The team in Newcastle really took exceptional care of me in my time of need. A massive thank you to Jordan..
Small dimly lit rooms that are not made up while you are out , have no chair at the desk and almost nowhere to hang clothes
Room was not cleaned on check in. The toilet had not been flushed and there was faeces in it. The room was not cleaned on any day while I was in, despite me asking for housekeeping. Absolutely terrible.
Lovely customer service and friendly staff
Stayed at this hotel on a few occasions and is my first choice when staying in Newcastle
Good value. Modern rooms & lobby Quiet in general. Rooms were unbearably hot (it was a heatwave) but the air recirculating system did nothing. Twinned with the security windows reducing airflow, it was not acceptable. Fully understand the need for security checking rooms and names, but felt very militant. Checking took a long time while they rifled through many pages of names and rooms to find if you are actually allowed in to your room.
Location is brilliant...Handley to the town centre with the famous Grey street a few yards away.
Excellent value. Easy check in and out, great location, friendly staff.
We loved our stay at Motel One Newcastle the proximity to everything is fantastic. The hotel staff were very friendly and our room was ready for us as soon as we arrived (1 hour early). The hotel was clean and well maintained and our room was bright and modern. The only grumble I have was the room was far too hot through the night as the thermostat on the air con didn’t go believe 10 degrees and the fan wasn’t the best so our sleep was disrupted a lot because of this.
I had a large room. The weather was very hot during my stay, the aircon was not very cool.
Good location. Friendly staff.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfasts.
The room was clean, comfy and quiet. The cooling system mostly kept it at a bearable temperature (during a heatwave!). The free wifi was excellent! However, the breakfast was not worth paying for, being a German/Dutch style cold meats and cheese buffet with almost no other options such as pastries. Meat and cheese that is laid out uncovered and (I think) uncooled on a side for hours isn't great. Very minimal cereal/fruit choice. The reception could also be better lit.
Charlie on the the reception Is very very helpful and always has a smile
Excellent, had a lovely stay in central Newcastle. Staff were lovely and welcoming. The hotel bar and lounge are fantastic.
The air conditioning in the room and the ventilation system in the bathroom weren't working. Since the window could only be opened a couple of centimetres, the temperature in the room was too high and the overall indoor climate was very unpleasant. Hard to sleep at night... According to reports from other guests and the hotel staff, this wasn't an isolated incident but affected a large number of rooms. Everything else was fine. Overall, this was my worst experience at a MotelOne hotel.
Love this hotel, but the heat was unbearable. Newcastle always delivers on location and cleanliness, sadly there weren't enough provisions in place to help with the heat wave. Upon arrival we were informed that we were on the sixth floor - 'the hottest part of the hotel'. Whilst a fan was requested, it was useless. When we raised this at 11pm (after returning to the hotel following dinner) it was suggested that we could move rooms. Why wasn't this suggested upon arrival, or why weren't we allocated a room on a lower, cooler level?? Such a shame, resulting in the worst nights sleep ever. A colleague did try and assist with the air temp in the room, but this simply circulates more heat. Extra provisions and water could have been provided, along with better room allocations if the hotel was quieter.
This hotel is always lovely the staff are very friendly xx my room was spotless xx
All perfect except for the room temperature the climate control didnt cool the room down at all it was a heatwave outside but it was ineffective, very temped to sleep downstairs in the air conditioned areas
Our favourite place to stay in Newcastle. So handy for the Theatre Royal. The bar is comfortable and open great hours. Best shower of any stay in recent years.
The room was small. Lighting wasn't well designed. The room was extremely hot. However, the staff were absolutely fantastic. They couldn't have been more helpful. Lisa moved me to a lower level room which was cooler (but you still need proper air con rather than an air circulating system).
Charlie was excellent at reception But my toothbrush and toothpaste went missing from my room
Staff were excellent and very friendly from arrival until leaving. Rooms are small but comfortable. I would have given 10/10 if the room hadn’t been too warm and the ac unable to cope along with only bottled beer available at the bar, no draught option. Breakfast is continental and very nice.
Really great stay. Charlie on Reception was very informative and helpful as were all the staff. The room was great in every way accepting the AC which never got the room cool (Only thing I dropped the score for as all other aspects were great)
Having booked last minute after a nightmare coming home from Spain we were exausted. Lizzie on reception was utterly fabulous! She upgraded us and got us into a room at 9.30am so we could shower and sleep which was very much appreciated and customer service was excellent.
I am working up here and been coming to the hotel For over a year the reception staff are very very helpful
Clean, quiet, comfortable. Excellent central location. Staff lovely, helpful & friendly. Good reception spacious seating areas & bar.
The room was very hot despite using the air con. The bed seemed hot not sure if a plastic sheet was on the bedbase. Some dust on the light fittings above the bed. The TV sound was of very poor quality despite adjusting the volume. Got an email invitation to check in but the website was in German and despite changing language and even logging onto your website this proved too difficult to complete.
I was allowed to check in early which was a bonus. Lizzie on the reception friendly an efficient. For my second stay i had room 520. All good wiyhe great aircon. The thing that makes the hotel for me is the outside seating area. Breakfast again brilliant with a very wide choice.
Hotel was clean, well kept and in a good location. Motel one was good value for money and all staff encountered were friendly. The room was unbearably hot. The air conditioner did nothing to cool the room down. The window couldn’t not open any further than an inch or so. The reception staff did provided us with a fan but I would say this affected our stay quite a bit.
Pleasantly surprised. Lovely hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Everywhere clean.
The hotel and breakfast were amazing. Our only gripe was the memory foam mattress that had sunk and wasn't supportive
Didnt book breakfast but asked if I could pay for one. Was refused. There was ample amount of food out.
Great staff, great bar, great location
Excellent hotel in ideal location. Close to everything but in a quiet enough street to escape it all too. Reception, dining and bar staff all excellent, I should have paid more attention to names. Friendly, professional and mix an excellent cocktail. Modern well maintained, showers clean and simple.
Stayed here a few times and always find the staff, extremely pleasant and professional. Rooms are always spotlessly clean and the location and price are superb. My only negative is that we always seem to get a room that looks out onto rubbish skips and rat poison boxes in alleyways. Curtains are easily pulled but all in all a great hotel despite that
There isn't enough milk in the room, each cup of tea or coffee needs 2 sachets and these weren't replenished during my stay. I do appreciate that you provide decaff though as many hotels don't. The pillows are a bit strange, they were almost like full sized pillows that had lost their shape and so had been folded over into a square, as had the pillow cases, which had been tucked in. I found them quite uncomfortable to sleep on.
Switch on. beOne.

Newcastle
The gateway to Scotland
Newcastle upon Tyne, the northernmost UK city south of the border, is frequently referred to as the gateway to Scotland, but in fact has much more to offer. Our centrally-located Design Hotel makes a perfect base from which to explore the city’s fascinating history and the multifaceted contrasts between “coal and culture” that it represents. Sleep in cosy box-spring beds, start your day with a healthy, organic breakfast, and relax amongst designer furniture in our One Lounge.
Newcastle has a rich history, represented by its city walls dating back to the 13th century, the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas, and the seven different bridges spanning the Tyne. Imposing buildings recall the former wealth of the coal industry, and the consequences of industrialisation. Today’s Newcastle is a lively city for art, architecture and night-life, and has impressively bridged the gap from the industrial to the post-industrial age. Welcome to “The Toon”!

“Sometimes I miss my River Tyne”
The Tyne river, frequently memorialised in song, is spanned by no fewer than seven bridges. Most interesting to tourists are perhaps the Tyne Bridge completed in the first half of the 20th century, the High Level Bridge and the comparatively recent Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Art and culture aficionados are sure to enjoy a visit to the Laing Art Gallery, whose collection includes works by Gauguin, Turner and Holman Hunt. It is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel.
In the evenings, Newcastle turns into a major party destination, with a night-life ranked alongside that of London, Las Vegas and Rio de Janeiro. Trendy bars, music venues and clubs are filled with locals and attract thousands of tourists to the city.
